Breaking trail since 2007
Who We Are
Tara Lila was created in 2007 by Eagle River landowners Richard and Amy Jo Aylward. Their passion for the Northwoods led them to purchase several properties in the area to preserve the natural scenic beauty. Through the generosity of the Aylwards and the gracious support from the Three Eagle Trail, the first public snowshoe trails were opened in the winter of 2009. Here at Tara Lila we are thankful to those who have gone before us and blazed the trail, promoting silent recreation opportunities for the next generation. We continue to develop new miles and facilities as we open more of our land to public use and the enjoyment of silent recreation.
What We Believe
Mission
We are here to establish and maintain a system of trails in northern Wisconsin for the purpose of human-powered, silent recreation.
Vision
Tara Lila will protect silent recreation opportunities and provide meaningful experiences for outdoor enthusiasts in the Northwoods of Wisconsin.
Core Values
Going slowly and quietly is the most satisfying way to truly and deeply enjoy nature. Authentic natural experiences should be protected. Experiences in nature can be an antidote to the chaos of normal life.
What We Do
Tara Lila’s primary enterprise is the ongoing protection, development, and care of a low-impact recreation trail system and public use. To host these trail systems, we have created three park units on our conservancy lands in the townships of Lincoln, Three Lakes, and Sugar Camp.
The impetus for Tara Lila evolved from a working relationship with the area’s premier bicycle-pedestrian trail, and maintaining our operations in support of the Three Eagle Trail. As host to some of its most scenic miles, Tara Lila was conceived with a desire to preserve and enhance the Three Eagle Trail.
Our further activities attempt to serve the community and broader public through the support of selected regional trails and conservancy organizations like Great Headwaters Trails, Northwoods Land Trust, and others.
