You have come to know Tara Lila for our three parks within the borderlands of Oneida and Vilas Counties hosting over 20 miles of snowshoe and fatbike trails, as well as our annual Snowshoe Celebration. Coming in February 2025 we would like to introduce the Himanaji Winter Challenge: A 5K Snowshoe race held at our Ripco Road park location.
The word “Himanaji” (hi-ma-NA-ji) comes from the two Sanskrit words for “snowy” [himana] and “race-course” [aji]. We present this snowy race course as a challenge for all who wish to participate. The arbiter of this challenge is not a clock or your fellow racer, but the Northwoods itself. You will be tested by the winter cold, the wind, and snow. The Himanaji sets before the racer a feast of endurance, for all those who wish to drink from the cup of challenge.
